June 10, 2020
Sunlight Family,
Our Sunday morning Children’s Ministry program will be reopening on June 14th at our 10:00 service.
We are making this decision with much prayer and thought and intend to provide an environment which is both engaging and safe for your children.
There are many details that go into this program, so please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY REOPENING DETAILS BELOW
CHILDREN’S MINISTRY REOPENING DETAILS
1) LIMITED SPACE
Because we will be complying with the small group suggestion of no more than 10 students per room, we will have limited capacity due to available classrooms and volunteer teachers. While this is not ideal, it is a reality of our current restrictions, and we ask for grace and understanding.
2) RELOCATION
In the past, our CM program has taken place in a large group setting in our school chapel. We are anxious to get back to that environment; however, for the months of June and July, all CM classes will take place in our main building. Our front “glass room” will house our youngest Sunlight Kids, ages birth – 3 years old with a 1:4 ratio. That room will meet capacity at 8 children. Our large front nursery will be home to those going into PK and K in the fall and will reach capacity at 10 students. Down our office wing you will find Classroom A which will be home to those students going into 4th & 5th grade (10 student capacity). And finally, at the end of the hall is Classroom B for those going into 1st – 3rd grade (10 student capacity). *Please note that once rooms reach capacity, we might place your child in a room that is not designated for their age group. You will have the choice to have them placed outside their age group or to remain with you in the service.
3) ARRIVAL PROCEDURES
In order to do our part to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in our care, temperatures will be checked upon arrival. If anyone in the family has a temperature of over 99.4, the children will not be permitted to enter Sunday School. Keep in mind that an elevated temperature does not necessarily signify COVID-19 and can be associated with many other things. However, because of the risk, we will not admit anyone with a family member who shows an elevated temp. If you know your child has recently had a fever, has been under the weather, or if you have been exposed to someone who is ill, please refrain from attending until your family is in the clear.
4) CHECK-IN
Once cleared, you will check your child in at the CM welcome desk. You will then be asked to have them use the restroom and wash their hands before walking them to class. Because of the 1:10 teacher/student ratio, children will not be able to leave the room during the lesson so it’s important that they use the restroom prior to being dropped off.
5) PICK-UP
In order to facilitate a one-way flow of traffic for pick-up, we are asking that only one parent per family come to retrieve your children. You will exit the front left doors in the sanctuary (those closest to the stage – a sign will be posted) and proceed down the office hallway, collecting your children as you pass their rooms. No one will be permitted to enter the hallway from the lobby, so please be sure to exit properly and follow the flow of traffic.
We ask for grace and patience as we roll out this summer plan. We are excited to meet with your children again while maintaining a safe space for all.
